How to Accept Stripe Payments, Create Customers & Invoices in Gravity Forms

Collecting payments online should be frictionless, secure, and fully automated. Whether you sell digital services, accept event registrations, process client retainer fees, or collect recurring donations, integrating Gravity Forms with Stripe allows you to process credit cards directly on your website while automatically managing customer profiles and invoices inside Stripe.

In this guide, we’ll demonstrate how to set up one-time charges, recurring subscriptions, and automated invoicing with our native Stripe add-on.

Step 1: Obtain Stripe API Keys

1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
2. Navigate to Developers → API Keys.
3. Copy your Publishable Key and Secret Key.
4. In WordPress, navigate to Forms → Settings → Stripe and paste both keys. Select Test Mode for initial verification.
5. Copy the Webhook URL displayed on the settings screen, open Developers → Webhooks in Stripe, click Add Endpoint, paste the URL, and select all charge/invoice events. Save your Signing Secret back in WordPress.

Step 2: Create a Payment or Subscription Feed

Open your checkout or registration form, and click Settings → Stripe:

• Transaction Type: Select Products and Services for one-time payments, or Subscription for recurring billing.
• Payment Total: Map a Product Field or dynamic Total calculation field.
• Customer Information: Map customer Name, Email, and Billing Address to automatically create or match customer records in Stripe.
• Conditional Processing: Only execute the Stripe charge when payment method is selected as Credit Card.
