Gravity Forms conditional logic shows or hides whole fields. Very often, though, the field is fine and only some of its options are wrong for this visitor: the evening delivery slot does not exist at weekends, fresh flowers cannot travel with a delivery, a tier cake needs three days' notice, a workshop is for experienced bakers only, a trade price is for trade customers. Making a copy of the field for every case quickly becomes a maze of near-identical fields, and the entries, exports and notifications get harder to read.

The Gravity Forms Conditional Choices add-on puts the logic on the single choice. For any option of a radio, checkbox, drop-down, multi-select, product or option field you can show it only when, hide it when, disable it when (greyed out, with a short reason next to it) or pre-select it when conditions are met. Conditions look at other answers (is, is not, greater than, less than, contains, starts with, ends with), at a date (today or a date answer: before, after, on, between, day of the week, with fixed dates or "today + 3") or at the visitor (logged in, logged out or a role). Combine them with all or any.

Rules apply live in the browser as people answer, on single-page, multi-page and AJAX forms. If a chosen option stops being available it is cleared, so totals and other conditional logic recalculate. And because the browser is never the last word, the server checks every submitted choice again: an option that was hidden or disabled for those answers is refused with a clear validation message, no entry is created, and hidden or disabled product options never reach the order total or the payment. When every option of a field is ruled out, your own message appears in its place and a required field can be allowed to stay empty. Rules are stored in the form, so Gravity Forms' own export and import keep them. For Gravity Forms 2.9 and newer.

The rules are saved inside the form itself, next to the fields they belong to. When the form is shown, a small script receives the rules of that form and checks them every time an answer changes, after every Gravity Forms conditional-logic pass and on every page of a multi-page or AJAX form. It hides the choice, greys it out with your reason, or selects it; a choice that stops being available is cleared, and the usual change event lets Gravity Forms recalculate the total and its own conditional logic. When the form is submitted, the add-on reads the submitted answers on the server, applies exactly the same rules (the browser script and the server code are tested against the same set of cases) and refuses any submitted choice that was hidden or disabled for those answers, with a validation message on the field. It also keeps such choices out of the order lines, so the Total, the order summary and the amount sent to a payment add-on cannot include them. Date rules use the site's time zone, and visitor rules use the logged-in user's roles. Everything runs on your own server: the add-on makes no outside request beyond the licence and update checks.
