Gravity Forms
+ Mindee Premium

Send a file uploaded through a Gravity Forms file-upload field to the Mindee document-AI API on submission, extract the structured fields the model reads (invoice, receipt, ID or your own custom model), and map them into the entry and merge tags. Uses your own Mindee account, API key and model, synchronous or asynchronous, with the key stored encrypted. Requires a Mindee account (a free tier and test calls are available; higher volumes need a paid Mindee plan).

Video setup guide: Gravity Forms Mindee

Core Features

Send an uploaded document to the Mindee document-AI API from every Gravity Forms submission
Works with off-the-shelf Mindee models (invoice, receipt, ID and more) or your own custom API-builder model
Map the Mindee field paths you want to keep to names of your own, including nested and list-item paths
Each extracted value is stored with the entry and available as a merge tag such as {mindee_field_total}
Synchronous or asynchronous models (the add-on enqueues the job and polls it until it finishes)
Your Mindee API key is stored encrypted at rest and never shown, logged or stored with an entry
A Test connection button confirms your key and model without sending a document
Conditional logic, so a document is only processed when your rule is met
Document extracted and extraction failed events, and clear entry notes when something goes wrong
Safe to retry: a document is processed once per entry and never sent to Mindee twice
The uploaded file is sent only to your Mindee account and is never stored off-site by the add-on
Only ever contacts the Mindee API; a failed call never blocks the form submission

What does it do?

Turn every uploaded document into structured data. The Gravity Forms Mindee Premium Add-on takes the file from a file-upload field on submission and, through the Mindee document-AI API, runs it through the model you choose — an off-the-shelf invoice, receipt or ID model, or your own custom API-builder model — then reads back the fields the model extracts. You map the field paths you care about to names of your own, and each value is stored with the entry and exposed as a merge tag such as {mindee_field_total}.

It is built for anyone who collects documents through a form and re-types what is on them afterwards: an accounts team taking supplier invoices, a lettings or HR team capturing IDs, a claims or returns desk reading receipts, an operations team lifting reference numbers off delivery notes. Instead of a person opening each upload and copying the numbers across, the form captures them on submission, with the result sitting next to the entry it came from.

You connect it with your own Mindee account, API key and model (a free tier and test calls are available; higher volumes need a paid Mindee plan). The key is encrypted before it is stored on your site, it is never shown again and never written to an entry or a log, and the uploaded file is sent only to your Mindee account for the one extraction call — never stored or forwarded anywhere else by the add-on. A Test connection button confirms your key reaches the model without sending a document, and the design is safe to retry: a document is processed once per entry, even if a submission is resent.

How does it work?

When a form is submitted and the feed condition is met, the add-on reads the uploaded file from the server and sends it once to your Mindee model — a multipart request with your API key in the Authorization header. For synchronous models it reads the result from that one request; for asynchronous models it enqueues the job and polls the queue with a bounded backoff until it completes. It then extracts each mapped field by its path (nested and list-item paths included), stores the value with the entry, records the document id and writes a clear note. The host is fixed to api.mindee.net, a redirect is never followed, the key never travels in the URL or body, and the uploaded file is sent only to your Mindee account. A document is processed once per entry, so a retry never sends it to Mindee twice.

How do I enable this?

1
Install and activate the add-on, then activate your license key in Forms → Settings → Mindee.
2
In your Mindee dashboard note the account, model and version of the API you want, and copy its API key.
3
Paste the key and the account, model and version into the settings, then use Test connection to confirm it.
4
Add a feed to a form, choose the file-upload field and the processing mode, map the Mindee fields to names, and send a test entry.
