Gravity Forms Redmine Add-On Setup Guide: Issues from Entries (WordPress Side)

Video setup guide: Gravity Forms Redmine

Core Features

Create a Redmine issue from each Gravity Forms submission over the Redmine REST API
Map fields to the project, tracker, subject, description, priority, assignee, category and parent issue
Map Gravity Forms answers into Redmine custom fields by their numeric id
An {all_fields} list writes every answer into the description; merge tags work everywhere
Log an optional time entry on the new issue with hours, an activity id and a comment
Connect with your own Redmine URL and personal API access key (X-Redmine-API-Key)
The API key is encrypted at rest and is never shown again, never logged and never stored with an entry
Private and local addresses are refused by default (with a filter to allow an internal Redmine), https only
A failed call never blocks the submission: the entry is saved and a clear, key-free note is added
A connection test on the settings page, per-feed conditional logic, and the issue link kept on each entry
Works with a self-hosted Redmine on any host, port or sub-path; no outside service beyond your Redmine
Requirement notice for Gravity Forms 2.9 or newer

What does it do?

Turn form submissions into tracked work. The Gravity Forms Redmine Premium Add-on creates a Redmine issue from every Gravity Forms entry, mapping your form fields to the project, tracker, subject, description, priority, assignee and any custom fields you use — so a bug report, a support request or a change request lands in Redmine ready to triage, instead of sitting in an inbox.

You connect with your own Redmine and your own API access key, over the Redmine REST API. Redmine is open source and you host it wherever you like; the add-on simply needs its address and a key, which it stores encrypted on your site. Per form you build a feed that says which project and tracker to use, what the subject and description should be (merge tags and an all-fields list are supported), and which numeric ids to send for priority, assignee, category or a parent issue. You can also map Gravity Forms answers straight into Redmine custom fields.

It is built to be safe and quiet. The API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again, never logged and never written to an entry. A feed can log an optional time entry on the new issue, conditional logic decides when an issue is created, and if Redmine is ever unreachable the submission still goes through and the add-on leaves a clear, masked note on the entry rather than blocking your visitor.

How does it work?

On a submission the add-on reads your feed, builds the issue body from your field mapping and merge tags, and sends POST /issues.json to your Redmine with the API key in the X-Redmine-API-Key header. It reads the new issue id, keeps the issue link on the entry and adds a success note; if you enabled a time entry it then sends POST /time_entries.json for the created issue. The address is validated and locked to https, private hosts are refused unless you allow them, redirects are not followed, and the key is encrypted at rest and stripped from every message.

How do I enable this?

1
Install and activate the add-on, then activate your license key in Forms → Settings → Redmine.
2
Enable REST in Redmine (Administration → Settings → API), then copy your API access key from My account and paste it with your Redmine address into the settings. Use Test connection.
3
Add a feed to a form: pick the project and tracker, write the subject and description, and map priority, assignee or custom fields as needed.
4
Optionally turn on a time entry, set a condition, and send a test submission to see the issue appear in Redmine.
