What does it do?

Suggestion boxes fail when nothing visible happens: ideas disappear into an inbox, people are afraid to put their name to them, the same idea arrives fifty times and nobody hears back. The Gravity Forms Suggestion Box & Idea Voting add-on runs the whole scheme on your own website. People send ideas through your own Gravity Forms form, with their name or anonymously: an anonymous post stores no name, e-mail, user account or IP address, and the author keeps a private follow-up link to see what happened.

Your team reads every suggestion in a moderation queue: tidy the title, choose the category, publish it, merge duplicates (votes move across, nobody counted twice) or reject it with a reason the author sees. How does it work?

Ideas, votes, e-mail vote links and status updates live in the add-on's own tables. When the form is sent, the add-on saves the suggestion as waiting for review and shows the author a private follow-up link; only a hash of its token is stored. For an anonymous post the IP address is never written to the Gravity Forms entry, the name and e-mail values are not saved, and the browser details and user account are cleared, so neither the add-on nor the entry holds an identity. Only ideas your team publishes appear on the board. Each vote is one row with a unique key on the idea and the person: a signed-in user is counted by their account, an e-mail voter by a keyed hash of the address after opening a signed link, and the database refuses a second row for the same person, even when requests arrive at the same moment. Status changes use a conditional update, so only one request can change a status and send its e-mails, one per address. Everything happens on your own server — the add-on makes no outside HTTP request beyond the licence and update checks.
