+ Weekly Form Schedule & Closures

Open and close Gravity Forms on a weekly schedule. Set the hours for each day, with several time windows and hours past midnight, your time zone, holidays and closure dates (one day, a range or every year) and a pause switch. While a form is closed, hide it and show your message with the next opening time, or keep it open with an after-hours notice. Submissions are checked again on the server, with a grace period for visitors who were already filling in the form, and cached pages switch by themselves. Entries are marked as sent in or outside opening hours, notifications can follow that, and a shortcode shows your hours with an open-now badge. All processing is local, with no outside connection.

What does it do?

A form that is always open makes promises your team cannot keep at night, at weekends and on holidays. Gravity Forms can open a form once between two dates; the Gravity Forms Weekly Form Schedule & Closures add-on gives each form real weekly opening hours instead.

Set the hours for each day in a simple grid: several windows per day (a lunch and a dinner service), hours past midnight and the time zone of your office. Add holidays and closures once (a date, a range, or every year such as 25 December) and pause a form until you switch it back or until a date and time. While a form is closed, either hide it and show your message with the next opening time (“We take orders again today at 5:00 pm”) or keep it open with an after-hours notice.

Closed forms are enforced on the server at submit time, with a short grace period for visitors who were already filling in the form, and pages served from a cache switch by themselves at opening and closing time. Every entry is marked in or outside opening hours, so you can filter after-hours entries and send notifications only in hours or only after hours. Merge tags and the [gf_weekly_schedule] shortcode show your hours with an open-now badge. Everything runs on your own server: no outside connection. For Gravity Forms 2.9 and newer.

How does it work?

Each form keeps its schedule in its own settings. When a page with the form is shown, the add-on works out on your server whether the form is open right now in the schedule's time zone, taking the weekly windows, closures and any pause into account, and either shows the form or your closed message (or the form with an after-hours notice). A small script on the page asks the server again when the page loads and at the next opening or closing time, so cached pages stay right. When a form is submitted, the add-on checks the time again on the server and refuses the submission if the form is closed and the grace period has passed; accepted entries are marked as sent in or outside opening hours, and notifications can depend on that mark. Everything happens on your own server — the add-on makes no outside HTTP request beyond the licence and update checks.
