What does it do?

A floor plan, a campus, a product photo or a country map says more when people can point at it. GravityExtra Image Map turns any picture or SVG drawing into an interactive map: visitors hover or tap a room, a product or a state to see a tooltip, open a popup with text, an image, a video and a button, follow a link or switch to another floor.

Draw the areas yourself in a visual editor with rectangle, circle, oval, polygon and spot tools, or import an SVG and every shape of the drawing becomes a clickable area named after its title or id. Start from ready maps of the world and the US states, made from public-domain data, or from the office floors and product spots demos.

Maps work on phones (pinch zoom, a bottom sheet for content), with the keyboard and with screen readers, load nothing from other servers and keep their data in WordPress, with JSON export and import. Show them with the Image Map block or a shortcode. A standalone WordPress plugin: no Gravity Forms needed.

How does it work?

Each map is stored in WordPress with its layers, areas, content and styles. On the page, your server prints the map as an inline drawing with the list of places and the content of every area, so it appears with the page and search engines can read it. A small bundled script adds the tooltips, popups, zoom, layers, search and keyboard support, and loads only on pages that show a map. Videos load only when a visitor opens them. Everything editors type and every imported file is checked on the server before it is stored. The plugin makes no outside connection of its own besides the licence and update checks.
