The Gravity Forms Actionstep Integration Add-on connects your law practice’s WordPress website directly to Actionstep, the comprehensive legal practice management cloud. Inbound client inquiries, matter intake forms, and corporate questionnaires automatically generate Participant records and structured Matters within your firm’s specific workflow progressions in real time.

By connecting directly via Actionstep’s REST API, your firm saves substantial administrative time, prevents duplicate data entry, and avoids costly monthly middleware subscriptions.

2. Prerequisites & API Credentials

Ensure you have:

• An active Actionstep subscription (Express or Practice Pro).
• Actionstep administrative privileges to generate API tokens or authorize OAuth.
• Gravity Forms installed on WordPress.

3. Plugin Installation & Authentication

1. Install and activate the add-on via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
2. Go to Forms → Settings → Actionstep.
3. Authenticate your Actionstep organization account.
4. Save your settings to verify the active connection.

4. Form Configuration & Workflow Mapping

1. Navigate to Forms → [Your Form] → Settings → Actionstep.
2. Click Add New to create a new feed.
3. Select your target Action Type (e.g. Conveyancing, Litigation, Estate Planning).
4. Map form inputs to Actionstep Participant fields (First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Address).
5. Map Matter details (Matter Name, Description, Initial Step, Assigned Lawyer).
6. Enable file attachments to transmit uploaded client documents directly into the matter folder.
7. Save your feed.

5. Advanced Features & Custom Collections

The add-on dynamically parses custom data collections configured inside Actionstep. If your firm collects specialized legal attributes (such as Property Title Numbers or Court Reference Codes), these appear automatically in the feed mapping interface.

6. Troubleshooting & Error Codes

• 401 Unauthorized: The Actionstep OAuth authorization has expired. Re-authenticate via Forms → Settings → Actionstep.
• Action Type Not Found: Ensure the selected Action Type is active and accessible by your API user account.
